With over 30 miles of beautifully maintained, heavily stocked streams, Cherokee is widely regarded as one of the premier trout fishing destinations in the southeastern United States.
The running stream directly bordering your cabin is a protected native trout stream and is strictly off-limits for fishing. Fishing in this specific stream is illegal and will result in a heavy citation/ticket from local Tribal Wildlife Officers. Please respect our native fish habitats!
To help you experience Soco Creek and local waters, we offer premium fishing rod and reel setups left directly in your cabin.
No fishing tackle is provided with your rental pole. Please visit these recommended local shops for supplies and bait:
The ideal local spot for natural bait.
Visit for a professional line of local flies, tackle, and expert guide advice.
General Tackle: For basic lures, floats, and lines, good local sources include the Food Lion Grocery Store and Family Dollar in downtown Cherokee.
A North Carolina State fishing permit is not required on the reservation. Instead, you must purchase a Tribal Fishing Permit for only $7.00 per day.
Trout are stocked once a week in the Big Cove area and once a week in the Soco area. Soco Creek is only 5 minutes away.
Good luck, have a great time, and enjoy some of the favorite trout streams in the Southeast!
